Seattle Prostate Institute Authors Publish Prostate Cancer Book

The just published "The Prostate Cancer Treatment Book" by the SPI physicians, Drs. Grimm, Blasko, and Sylvester is a valuable contribution to patients and physicians toward understanding this disease and the options for treatment. It is straightforward and informative in its presentation of prostate anatomy, dietary issues, prostate cancer screening, and diagnostic studies, and discusses the treatment options of surgery, external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, hormone intervention and surveillance with an intent to cure. The forward was written by Dr. David Crawford.

Each chapter in this 192 page book is a collaboration by one SPI author with one or two national experts on the subject under discussion. The content is scientifically accurate but easily approachable by the non-specialist. This book is an information source useful to any physician who is counseling patients about prostate cancer and a helpful aid to patients trying to make the difficult decision among treatment options.
