Immediate versus deferred androgen deprivation treatment in patients with node-positive prostate cancer after radical prostatectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy (January 2006)

Lancet Oncol, 2006, July. This report by Messing et al. presents the final data analysis of the "Messing" trial ECOG EST 3886, first published in NEJM in 1999. Ninety eight men, clinical stage T2, were randomized to immediate/continuous ADT or ADT when metastatic disease was detected. Overall survival at median F/U of 11.9 years: immediate ADT 13.9 yrs. vs. 11.3 yrs. (P=0.04)
