Enlarge Text for Easier Reading

For easier viewing, there are two ways you can enlarge the text that appears on your monitor, adjusting your browser settings or changing your computer's default monitor display settings.

Browser Settings:
The size of the text your web browser displays can be made larger (or smaller) with a few simple keystrokes. The steps below might vary a bit depending on the version of your browser but they should be close enough to enable you to figure out what to do.

Internet Explorer - Version 5.x
  • On the menu bar, select the "View" menu
  • Select "Text Size"
  • " Choose the text size that works best for you

Netscape Navigator - Version 4.x

  • Choose "Edit" from the menu bar.
  • Select "Preferences"
  • Open the "Appearance" folder, and click on "Fonts". From here you can change your "font" and "size" using pull down menus.
  • Click the "OK" button before exiting to put new preferences into effect.
AOL - Version 4
  • Double click the "My AOL" icon on the top menu bar.
  • Select "Preferences" in the pull down menu
  • Scroll down to the "font" icon on the left side of the dialog box.
  • Use the pull down menus to the right side to adjust and change the font.
OPERATING SYSTEM DEFAULT SETTINGS
By adjusting the monitor display resolution , you can enlarge (or reduce) the size of everything that appears on the monitor, application files, e-mails, icons, web pages, etc. The lower the resolution, the larger the size.
Windows 95 and Subsequent Versions
  • Click on the Start button and select Settings / Control Panel
  • Double click on the "Display" icon
  • Click on the "Settings" tab at the top of the dialogue box
  • In the "Display / Screen Area" box below the monitor image, drag the control lever left towards "Less" so that the pixel count decreases (e.g., from 1024 by 768 to 800 by 600). The lowest setting is 640 by 400.
  • Select "OK". Depending on the version of Windows, another dialogue box may appear, but it should be self-explanatory
Macintosh - 0S 9.x
  • Open the Apple Menu
  • Select Control Panels
  • Select Monitor
  • Choose the resolution setting that works best for you
